Imperia motorcycle
1931 - 1955
Imperia was an Italian motorcycle manufacturer founded by Enrico Tortelli from Milan in 1932 using a JAP engine for his motorcycle and later began making their own New Imperial engines.
In 1939 he presented an own 500 cc unit with relatively modern technology. This was a single cylinder 500 cc with technical features far more advanced than the engines of the time. It has a neat and compact design, characterized by the cylinder slightly inclined forward and four-speed Burman gearbox, cylinder head and barrel are shown in light alloy with iron and short pushrods because the camshaft was quite high. A four speed Burman gear box was built right into the block.
After World War II, Tortelli improved the design and also a used a King SaSa drive model for the camshaft which was driven by beveled gears and sapling. In 1954 came the last change to the block. The sump was changed with generous cooling fins, and completely redesigned cylinder head and dry clutch. However, despite the high performance and because the public was more interested in cheaper and lighter models, Tortelli had to close his company shortly after.
The latest evolution in 1954, Carter . , the engine does not meet the expected success and the House needs to close.
